This is a reduction print (which means that sections of the lino block were destroyed during the making of the print - so the edition can never be repeated or extended).

I printed the background colour of the masonry using metallic silver ink, and the butterflies in two, complimentary, colours.

For the main black section of the print, I used, for the first time in my experience, Soviet-era lino salvaged from a building in Kiev, Ukraine, and given to me (prior to the Russian invasion), by Ukrainian printmaker, Olesya Dzhuraeva.

I am going to contribute 50% from every sale of this print (not including postage and packing charges)to the DEC Ukrainian Humanitarian Appeal (which is matched, pound for pound, by the UK government) which raises funds for food, water, medicine, protection and trauma care for people fleeing the war.
